Miguel Matos – Twisted Tuberose

120

Floral Woody Musk

Tuberose is one of my favorite notes to work with, and I love the way we can add or take, hide or exaggerate the facets if this flower ir order to express it in different ways. Nevertheless, it’s always a strong, powerful and opulent scent. With this experiment, I wanted to push it and twist it, transforming it, without losing the characteristic heart of tuberose. I wanted tuberose to be genderless, to take it to resinous, sappy smells, enriching the scent with woody, sweet, green and fresh elements. It’s the most expensive formula in my line, because of the strong use of natural tuberose absolute. But the result is well worth it.

Top Notes:  Fir Balsam, Scottish Pine, Raspberry.

Heart Notes: Tuberose, Cypress, Virginia Cedar.

Base Notes: Ambergris, Musk, Civet, Caramel.

Nose: Miguel Matos.

During the several lockdowns of the pandemic, I found myself immersed in negative thoughts and feelings. Sadness, lack of hope, boredom… There were worse and better moments, but the thing that let me get away from all this gloomy scenario was my perfume lab. Whenever I start blending perfume materials, I lose track of time, I escape to a fantasy planet, I am in my own bubble. Sometimes, even through the darkest times, I would spend countless hours in pure creative trance. And that eventually made me emerge from that somber mood I was in. Later on, while looking back at all the formulas I had made during the past year, it was surprising to see how uplifting and happier they were, comparing to most of my previous ones. My work has gotten brighter, more joyful, more sensual. From the “lockdown formulas” I selected four to release now (the other ones will also eventually see the light of day). Today I feel stronger and more positive, and I would like to convey this feeling of positiveness through these perfumes. They all have a different mood, but they share this strength and joy. I hope I can transmit this feeling of empowerment to you.
