Description
Macaque Yuzu Edition
Sweet notes of yuzu dance through a pine forest, welcoming you to Zoologist Macaque. Incense adds gravity with aromas of Hinoki woods and myrrh. The delicate balance between heavy and light results in an austere woody scent with mild hints of creamy sandalwood. Macaque is exuberance tempered by calm, sublimity buoyed by joy, a happy harmony of meditative bliss.
Against the backdrop of a mountainous terrain, two communities share a peaceful coexistence. Yet despite their proximity, the societies are distinctly unique. Macaques cavort among the trees, grasping with delight at nature’s bountiful pleasures. From the quiet solemnity of a nearby temple, their human neighbours regard them, coveting the monkeys’ playful abandon. The macaques are all but oblivious, sparing only the briefest of curious glances at the pensive faces below before surrendering once again to their carefree revels.
This perfume is a new interpretation by perfumer Mackenzie Reilly. The original version, designed by Sarah McCartney, is discontinued and no longer available.

Perfumer

Spyros Drosopoulos is a fragrance engineer and is the owner and creator of niche perfume line Baruti. Baruti is the Greek word for “gunpowder”. It is often used to describe someone with an excessive character, bite, or a certain edginess.
Starting with a PhD in neuropsychology with specifications in sleep and memory, Dr. Drosopoulos was intrigued by how the differences in scents can affect our perceptions and memories. Perfumery for Spyros started as a hobby during his research and teaching career. Now with Baruti, he aims to make perfumes where the fragrance is optimized as a medium for wearers to fit the character of the perfume.
Dr. Spyros Drosopoulos is often inspired by music and art when it comes to making perfumes. One of Baruti’s most-talked-about perfume, Tinderer, was also inspired by the song Tinderer by Danish band Under Byen. It is shown evident by how the aromas of the perfume matches with the percussions of the sounds in the song and this creation represents a crisp, dewy morning in a magical forest.
Finally, we would also like to mention that Dr. Drosopoulos, participates in The Art and Olfaction Awards. He serves as a shortlisting judge, in the artisan category.
